It's true what they say, traveling really does broaden the mind and that's why I love it so much! Unfortunately though, I haven't been able to do any this year. Pretty shocking considering I visited four countries last year! Fortunately, I won a 3 day trip to Europe! BOOM. I could choose between Paris, Berlin or Barcelona. Guess which one I picked?

I have to say, I've never really been anywhere in Europe outside of these fine British Isles, and I wasn't particularly excited. I prefer to venture a bit further east, so my expectations were fairly low. Would I ever have paid to go? Probably not, but it was free, so why not?!

Wow was I in for a surprise then! It was 30 degrees, the food was delish, the people were super friendly and welcoming, every road and back street seemed to be teeming with history. I instantly fell in love with the place, and ended up being disappointed we only had 3 days here (technically 2, as one day was Catalan National Day and nearly everything was shut!).

The city, from Castell De Montjuïc

There really is just so much to see, so much to do and 3 days just doesn't really cover everything. I did manage to take in some amazing sights, Cable Cars on Montjuïc, La Sagrada Familia, Park Güell and La Rambla. Even the hotel we stayed in was pretty awesome. Apparently back in the 20s and 30s, it was the accommodation of choice for Bull Fighters. Thankfully, they've updated the place since then though.

Will I pay to go back again? Probably.

  4. WOW you won a holiday!!! Lucky gal! I can't believe I've never been to Spain! I like going to places with a lot of sight-seeing history to explore and never thought of Spain as that type of country...clearly I am mistaken! I've always wanted to try authentic Spanish food though, yum!

Sadly I haven't travelled outside Europe :( I've been to both Berlin and Paris and would certainly recommend both. If you love impressionist art then you MUST visit Pareee and the various art galleries. Oh and to see the lady herself, Miss Mona Lisa :) xxxx

  5. Awesome photos and glad you enjoyed it, I was looking through my Barcelona photos the other day. It's not quite as exciting as far flung destinations but Europe does have great cities & food!

  8. I recomend you to come back to Spain again, yes Barcelona is a pretty city, really beautiful, but you also have Granada, Sevilla (both at the south) even other less known cities that are maybe even more beautiful.
